Applicants must have a primary activity in the original design, development, innovation or production of fashion products and be one of the following:
- an emerging fashion designer
- an emerging fashion and textile practitioner
- an emerging fashion design business.
For this Program, these categories are defined as:
Emerging fashion designer
An emerging fashion designer is an individual in the early stages (first five years) of establishing an independent fashion design practice. They develop original fashion products or collections and have demonstrated early professional activity within the fashion industry.
Emerging fashion and textile practitioner
An emerging fashion and textile practitioner is in the early stages (first five years) of establishing an independent fashion textile practice. They create original textile products, prints or fabric-based designs and have demonstrated early professional activity within the fashion and textile industry.
Emerging fashion design business
An emerging fashion design business is a NSW-based business in the early stages of growth whose primary activity is the original design, development, production, innovation or commercialisation of fashion or textile products for the fashion industry.
Note: Applicants from related sectors including workwear, jewellery and accessories are eligible to apply. Applications should clearly explain the applicant’s connection to the fashion and textile industry and provide supporting evidence.
